Life Lessons I've Learned From Fitness

I have always been a firm believer that there are some lessons in life that can only be truly learned through experience.  There are always going to be those people that will try to force feed advice down your throat, never realizing that they can talk until they are blue in the face, but it's not going to penetrate until you've experienced it yourself.  Everyone has to learn these lessons in their own time and their own way, of course, but in an effort to speed things up for you, in case you're not quite there yet, or just in need of a little motivation, I want to share a few of the things that I have learned throughout my own fitness journey that can be applied to SOOOO much more in life than just getting fit:

~ You don't know whether or not you can do something until you've tried it.  (And more often than not, it turns out you CAN!)

~ You ALWAYS have a choice.

~ The more scared you are to do something, the better it's going to feel once you've actually done it.  (It's like going on a roller coaster...scary at first, but then you wanna go on again...unless you're like me and you get motion sickness, in which case, disregard that last thought)  :)

~ Most people are capable of so much more than they are willing to admit, even to themselves.

~ Exercise can be the best cure for a bad day.

~ Hard work is something that cannot be substituted.

~ "Can't" and "Won't" are not the same thing, although, too often, they are used interchangeably.

~ If you truly want something, you will find a way.  If you don't, you'll find an excuse.

~ You are responsible for your own happiness - and your own misery.  Ultimately, you can't rely on or blame others...true happiness has to come from within.

~ People often speak from their own fears and limitations.  Don't let anyone tell you that you can't accomplish something if you have your heart set on it.

  1. you always have a choice,no-one does for u...not even the small voice inside ur head that whisper u the exact opposite!I've learned that discipline is as crucual in fitness/training as it is for life in general and only if u chose it u'll have the results u've been waiting for years (mind&body)...my body is doing great thing,I'll make my mind find the balance I need ;) keep up ur admirable inspiration and good luck for ur goals!
